Lately I’ve read something about Chechen rebels’ ideologist Taramov suggestion to the European countries to accommodate 200 000 of Chechen refugees on their territory. Strange suggestion as it may seem, but there is an explanation to it, I guess. The real name of Taramov is Tsutsaev. He fled from Chechnya to Azerbaijan in 1996 as he shot a high-ranking serviceman. He has many close ties with the field-commanders of Maskhadov’s encirclement who are fierce jihad fighters with shady or even criminal past. His idea is now that the war in Chechnya is coming to an end, make them settle in some safe place. I think he gets a good remuneration from them if he is still free. The Azerbaijani police ask too much for its protection nowadays.
